
When the weather is being difficult and your child is too, you might want to look into some fun and engaging indoor activities that will help her get some of her wiggles out.
I took the liberty of brainstorming some activities that can be done indoors given the proper resources and adequate space. I did some of these with my kids when they were young and found they worked well for reducing the wiggles. They were also useful for shaking up our homeschool routine a bit when things seemed to be getting a bit boring.
Fun Indoor Activities Your Child Can Do
- Scavenger Hunt
- A game of catch with a foam ball
- Paper airplane race
- Simple gymnastics like forward rolls and backward rolls on a soft mat
- Chinese jumprope
- Make an indoor obstacle course
- Play marching band
- Indoor hopscotch
- Jump rope
- Simon Says
- Red Light, Green Light
- Bounce on an exercise ball
- Charades
- Hide and Seek
- Mother, May I
- Ring Around the Rosie
- Table tennis
- Balloon games
- Indoor relay race
- Indoor Basketball
- Follow the Leader
- Juggle
- Bean bag toss
- Indoor bowling
- Hula hoop
- Ballet, tap, or any other formal dance
- Move like any animal you can think of, i.e. hop like a bunny, slither like a snake, etc.
- Play children’s songs with motions like the Hokey Pokey or other songs your child can dance to
- Build something together like a fort or house
- Play tow truck (Your child can pull a box or chair laying on its side)
