Help Your Child Get the Wiggles Out with These Fun Indoor Activities

Child on bouncy ball - Help Your Child Get the Wiggles Out with These Fun Indoor Activities
When the weather is being difficult and your child is too, you might want to look into some fun and engaging indoor activities that will help her get some of her wiggles out.

I took the liberty of brainstorming some activities that can be done indoors given the proper resources and adequate space. I did some of these with my kids when they were young and found they worked well for reducing the wiggles. They were also useful for shaking up our homeschool routine a bit when things seemed to be getting a bit boring.

Fun Indoor Activities Your Child Can Do

  1. Scavenger Hunt
  2. A game of catch with a foam ball
  3. Paper airplane race
  4. Simple gymnastics like forward rolls and backward rolls on a soft mat
  5. Chinese jumprope
  6. Make an indoor obstacle course
  7. Play marching band
  8. Indoor hopscotch
  9. Jump rope
  10. Simon Says
  11. Red Light, Green Light
  12. Bounce on an exercise ball
  13. Charades
  14. Hide and Seek
  15. Mother, May I
  16. Ring Around the Rosie
  17. Table tennis
  18. Balloon games
  19. Indoor relay race
  20. Indoor Basketball
  21. Follow the Leader
  22. Juggle
  23. Bean bag toss
  24. Indoor bowling
  25. Hula hoop
  26. Ballet, tap, or any other formal dance
  27. Move like any animal you can think of, i.e. hop like a bunny, slither like a snake, etc.
  28. Play children’s songs with motions like the Hokey Pokey or other songs your child can dance to
  29. Build something together like a fort or house
  30. Play tow truck (Your child can pull a box or chair laying on its side)

I hope this list of indoor activities makes life a little better for your homeschool on rainy days.
